Vehicular Traffic
Vehicular Traffic
- Although the Cemetery has authority to develop and enforce special rules for vehicular traffic control within the Cemetery, it is considered preferable, as far as is practicable, to follow the same general rules that govern travel on public roadways. These include driving on the right hand side of the road, unless directed to do otherwise, giving pedestrians right-of-way over vehicular traffic, driving only on roads and driveways designed to carry vehicular traffic, and the prohibition of passing a funeral procession moving in the same direction. Care shall be exercised when driving within the Cemetery to avoid meeting a funeral procession moving in the opposite direction, but if such meeting is unavoidable, the oncoming car shall be stopped until the last car care of the procession has passed.
- Care shall be exercised to avoid approaching the vicinity where a funeral service is being conducted. This restraint applies to Cemetery personnel as well as the general public, whether traveling in a vehicle or moving on foot.
- No vehicle shall be driven within the Cemetery at a speed in excess of 15 miles per hour.
- Automobiles shall not be left unoccupied with the engine running, and the parking brake shall be set at times when no person is seated in the driving position.
- No vehicle shall be parked in such position as to prevent free movement of other vehicles in Cemetery roadways.
- Motorcycles, snowmobiles, go-carts, and all other vehicles designed primarily for recreational use shall be excluded from the Cemetery.
- All forms of racing, hot rodding and driver training shall be prohibited within the Cemetery grounds.
- Funeral processions, upon entering the Cemetery, shall be escorted by the Superintendent or one of his assisstants. Each driver in the funeral procession shall observe and obey the signals and directions given by the Cemetery personnel.
