Planting Rules
- Ordinary lot maintenance, including mowing, raking, weed control, sodding, grading, etc. shall be performed by the Cemetery as part of its general responsibility to lot owners assumed at the time payments for lots are made.
- An owner wishing to arrange for additional care and beautification of a lot may do so through an agreement with the Cemetery and the contribution of a sum of money a an endowment, the income from which is adequate to cover the cost of the additional work and beautification features wanted.
- In order that a uniformly high standard of beauty may be maintained within the Cemetery, all such additional work shall be performed exclusively by Cemetery personnel in accordance with established standards for such work. Typically, this includes preparation, planting and care of flower beds, ground cover, ornamental trees and shrubs. Under no circumstances shall a lot owner, as an individual, undertake to perform any work of this nature on this lot or contract with others for such work unless prior arrangements have been made with the Superintendent.
- Orders for special or additional service shall be given to the Cemetery in writing at the time the endowment contribution is made. If it is expected or desired to have a specified service completed in time for Memorial Day, orders shall be placed prior to May 1st.
- The use of artificial flower arrangements and wreaths placed at ground level and grave blankets shall be permitted during the time period from November 5 to March 15. In order that spring grounds preparation and maintenance may begin in mid-March, as it should, and be performed efficiently, all such ground level decorations remaining in place after March 15 will be removed by the Superintendent. Owners wishing to retain possession of any of these articles should retrieve them before March 15.
- The use of freshly cut flowers shall be permitted at all times, with the understanding that the Superintendent shall have authority to remove them after they have become faded or wilted.
Either freshly cut or potted flowers or plants may be placed for Memorial Day and shall be permitted to remain in place until the Monday following the next Father’s Day, after which the potted plants and any wilted cut flowers shall be removed. - The Superintendent shall have the authority to remove all floral decorations, flags, shrubs or herbage of any kind which, in the judgement of the Superintendent, have become unsightly, dangerous, diseased or detrimental to the appearance of adjacent lots or of the Cemetery in general.
- The Cemetery shall not be held responsible for the replacement of floral arrangements, plants or receptacles which have become lost, misplaced, stolen or broken.
- The placement of shells, toys, metal designs, ornaments, chairs, settees and other similar articles shall be prohibited and, if placed on a lot, the Superintendent shall have the authority to remove them.
- The use of wires inserted into the ground as a means of securing potted plants, floral arrangements or memorials is prohibited.
